Tie Liu, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor
Office: 352-846-2638, Email: tieliu@ufl.edu
Twitter: @ltie52

Tie Liu did his graduate study in both Peking University and Yale University with Dr. Timothy Nelson and Dr. Xing-Wang Deng concentrated on the entire genome of rice cell-type specific transcriptional regulation using Laser Capture Microdissection (LCM). He started his postdoctoral research on stomata development in the lab of Dr. Dominique Bergmann at Stanford University. While there, he conceived comparative genetic and cell imaging approaches to discover stomatal genes functions
in rice and maize. He continued his research in the lab of Dr. Kathryn Barton at Stanford to study the transcriptional regulatory networks on plant meristem and leaf development.
His lab is focused on understanding the mechanisms that plants integrate developmental pathways and abiotic stress pathways in Arabidopsis and crop plants. His lab is also characterizing the genes that are involved in postharvest senescence in broccoli and tuber dormancy in potato using quantitative genetic, genomics, phenomics, and genome-editing approaches.

Yogesh Ahlawat, Ph.D.
Biological Scientist II

Yogesh is a plant molecular biologist with wide research experience in molecular biology and plant tissue culture in different model plants. He graduated from Michigan Technological University and his PhD research was focused on plant cell wall modification for enhancing saccharification in poplar.
His current project is studying the pathways that regulate senescence in Arabidopsis and Brassica plants.

PMCB graduate student

She is characterizing the functional properties of several downstream targets of STM by analyzing the gain-of-function and loss-of-function mutants in Arabidopsis. She is also developing methods to study  functions of their homologues in strawberry.
