Principal Investigator Tie Liu, Ph.D. Associate Professor Office: Fifield Hall 1213 Phone: 352-846-2638 Email: [email protected] |
Tie Liu completed his graduate training at Peking University and Yale University, where he studied cell-type–specific transcriptional regulation in the rice genome. He conducted his postdoctoral research at Stanford University in the labs of Dr. Dominique Bergmann and Dr. Kathryn Barton, applying comparative genetics and advanced cell imaging to uncover gene functions controlling stomatal development, meristem regulation, and leaf patterning in monocots and dicots.
Currently, his research group focuses on how plants integrate developmental programs with abiotic stress responses across both model systems and horticultural crops. His lab is particularly interested in the genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying organ development and postharvest senescence. Using quantitative genetics, multi-omics (transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics), phenomics, and genome editing, his team investigates senescence-associated genes, stress-induced regulatory networks, and shelf-life traits to advance postharvest biology and improve the resilience and quality of specialty crops.
